Using finance from Headingley Investment Fund, HDT bought the RK Harris & Son greengrocers business on North Lane, and re-opened it as The Headingley Greengrocer in April 2019.
There had been a greengrocer on the site for 100 years, and Harris’s had run it for over 40, so HDT is proud to have been able to take over this well-known and treasured business and continue to run it under community ownership.
As a community run shop we provide a wide range of high quality fruit and veg – using local suppliers when possible – and with a commitment to reduce waste and dependence on single use plastic. We sell loose produce so that you can buy what you need, we compost our waste through local company Plate to Plate, and we give any surplus every Friday to the Pay as You Feel café run by Rainbow Junktion in Hyde Park.
